Caernarfon Castle and Town

The imposing Caernarfon Castle was built by Edward I after the defeat of Llywelyn ap Gruffydd, the last native Welsh prince, in 1283. It is considered to be one of the greatest buildings of the Middle Ages. The castle and town acted as the administrative center of North Wales. Caernarfon Castle was the site of the 1969 investiture of Charles, Prince of Wales (later King Charles III).
